How to set up parental controls on the Nokia Lumia 920

We show you how to set up parental controls on the Nokia Lumia 920

The Nokia Lumia 920 is a great device, offering a guaranteed build quality that only the Nokia brand represents, as well as the up and coming Windows Phone operating system which is oh-so-user-friendly.

If you’re a parent, you’ll be well aware of how tech-savvy kids can be these days and when you’re out and about, the Lumia 920 can really get you out of a bind when it comes to averting boredom-related tantrums.

The only problem with letting your kids play with your device is that you’re opening yourself up to a world of potential hurt, including (but not limited to) heaps of calls and texts to random numbers, embarrassing Facebook and Twitter updates and general mischief with your settings and preferences.

This is why Microsoft has integrated a ‘Children’s Corner’ function, allowing your little treasures access to only the areas of your phone that you deem suitable!

Here’s how to set it up:

  • Start at the home screen

  • Swipe Left

  • Hit ‘Settings’

  • Tap ‘Children’s Corner’

  • Choose which content you want your kids to be able to access

  • You can also set a password from here to stop your kids accessing your own homescreen

  • Now, if you want to access Children’s Corner, from your own lock screen swipe left then swipe up from the Children’s Corner lock screen

  • (Pro tip: You may also want to go into your Wallet settings and add a PIN code to stop your kids bankrupting you by making untold amounts of in-app purchases!)
