We'll be covering the Huawei P2 launch live from Barcelona at Mobile World Congress
Huawei's rumoured Ascend P2 announcement is the first press conference of Mobile World Congress 2013 and we're all ready for the event, due to start at 2PM Barcelona time (1PM UK time) on Sunday 24th February.
Huawei's Ascend P2 hasn't had much of the limelight as far as Mobile World Congress rumours go, although many think it could also be the launch of the company's new Mozilla Mobile phone too.
The Ascend P2 is rumoured to feature:
- 1.8GHz quad core processor
- 4.7-inch screen
- 13-megapixel camera
- Android 4.1
- 3000 mAh battery
Pictures of the device leaked last week suggest the screen could be something pretty special with some very vibrant colours.
If it has a true 1080p resolution at 1920x1080 pixels, like many other forthcoming flagships, it could clock the same pixel density as the HTC One at 468 pixels-per-inch (ppi), though we think this is unlikely.
There could also of course be a Windows Phone device launched, with the Windows-based Ascend W1 announced at January's CES in Las Vegas, along with the Ascend D2 phablet.
We had some hands on time with the Ascend D2 and concluded, '
We want to like the Huawei Ascend D2 because it's the flagship, but we can't help feeling a little under-impressed.
'It's almost a complete rip off of the Samsung Galaxy S3, although isn't available in blue, and although the screen is super-high resolution and processor claims to make this the fastest smartphone yet, we'll have to reserve proper judgenment until we've spent a lot more time with the device.'
Let's hope whatever Huawei launches at Mobile World Congress 2013 is better.
