The BlackBerry Q10, which went on sale on Friday at Selfridges, is set to sell out, according to Carphone Warehouse.
However, the company could not comment on how many units have been sold, nor how many went on sale in the first place.
The same happened when the BlackBerry Z10 went on sale, leading us to think BlackBerry is desperately trying to produce a buzz around the launch.
A press release from Carphone Warehouse said, 'Carphone Warehouse predicts that the BlackBerry Q10 smartphone will be a sell-out following the bumper sales this weekend and confirms that it has brought in extra stock to satisfy anticipated demand.
Selfridges sold record numbers of the smartphone over the weekend via its in-store Carphone Warehouse concession ahead of the smartphone going on general release across all of Carphone Warehouse’s 800 stores tomorrow [April 30].'
We approached Carphone Warehouse's PR to try and quantify this claim, but they said they are unable to give out figures.
Sir Charles Dunstone, Chairman and Co-Founder of Carphone Warehouse went on to say, 'The exclusive launch of the BlackBerry Q10 at our store within Selfridges over the weekend was an amazing success. We have never seen any product sell that amount of volume in such a short space of time - it was incredible.'
Following the BlackBerry Z10 launch, which was the first device to launch on BlackBerry 10, BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins reported BlackBerry Z10 sales were encouraging and in fact, sales channels in India sold out of the device in the first two days.
Earlier in April however, it seemed people became disillusioned with the device and retailers were reporting there were more returns of the device than sales.
We'll be providing you with our full review of the BlackBerry Q10 in the next few days, but until then, check out our first impressions of the BlackBerry Q10 - we'll give you a clue - we're impressed.
The BlackBerry Q10 will be available from O2, Orange, T-Mobile, Three and EE from tomorrow.
