Nexus 7 Facebook Home beta build leaks

News Clare Hopping 16:55, 8 Apr 2013

A beta version of Facebook Home has leaked and it supports screens up to 1280x768 pixels which includes the Nexus 7

A Facebook Home pre-release for devices supporting a resolution of 1280x768 has appeared online - suggesting it'll work on the Nexus 4 and Nexus 7.

MoDaCo managed to get the leaked ROM from a pre-release of the HTC First, which will be the debut Facebook Home device and it has included directions of how to install the UI onto your device ahead of the official launch on April 12.

Facebook's Home UI has only been announced for smartphones so far, but this recent leaks proves the build will work on tablets too, as long as the device has a resolution less than 1280x768 pixels.

Beware though: The ROM detailed will only allow you to install Facebook Home on a device that doesn't have Facebook installed in the base ROM - essentially Nexus devices only.

If you cannot uninstall Facebook from your device, you'll have to wait until April 12 to install the official Google Play app.

Facebook Home was announced last week and it aims to put Facebook at the core of your device.

Highlights of the software includes Chatheads that allows you to converse with any of your Facebook friends inobtrusively while in any app and Coverfeed that adds all your friends to your homescreen in a looping slideshow of activity

If you're a little wary and would rather wait until launch day to install Facebook Home, you'll be able to download it from Google Play.
