EE reveals SIM-only 4G 30-day rolling contracts

EE has announced the launch of 30-day rolling SIM-only 4G contracts on its network.

The basic starting package has a 500MB data limit per month with unlimited texts and calls for £23 per month. Going up from there a 1GB data limit will cost you £28 per month, a 3GB limit goes for £33 per month, 5GB costs £38 per month, 8GB costs £43 per month and a 20GB plan will set you back a staggering £63 per month. All of this is without a phone, remember.

It’s hard to see many consumers scrambling for these deals given the current economic climate. EE has come under repeated criticism since it first announced its 4G network tariffs for pricing its plans too high for most users. More networks are expected to begin offering their own 4G plans following the big spectrum auction earlier this year.

It’s thought rivals such as O2, Three and Vodafone will announce their 4G network deals over the Summer and Autumn months. In our view, EE missed a trick by not offering its 4G plans at a more affordable price and it’s only a matter of time before a rival network undercuts it. Three has already hinted at the idea it will offer 4G connectivity for a similar cost to its current 3G plans, while O2’s recently announced Refresh tariff shows the company has some flexibility when it comes to meeting customer needs.

Having used 4G extensively in recent months we can say it's pretty awesome, but if we're talking about us actually signing the dotted line on a contract, personally, EE's prices are a bit on the steep side for us.
