Google’s revamped Nexus 7, said to sport a Full HD display, a thinner chassis and boosted internal hardware, could be announced by the end of June, according to reports.
Digitimes cites its usual ‘supply chain sources’ for a tip which claims the Nexus 7 will ‘start shipping’ at the end of Q2 of this year (which would be June), making it available on the market by Q3.

As with previous rumours, the revamped Nexus 7, which doesn’t yet have a new name, will allegedly feature a 7-inch LTPS display from AU Optronics with a 1920x1200 pixel Full HD resolution. The report indicates these panels are already in production.
The claims do sit with earlier reports that the Nexus 7 reboot could arrive in July and it would seem Google is keen to avoid its previous supply shortages having reportedly ordered eight million units in time for its as yet unannounced launch event. That would indicate Google also doesn’t plan on changing its competitive pricing plan which saw the original Nexus 7 flying off the virtual shelves of its Google Play webstore for as little as £159.
The new Nexus 7 is also expected to have a slimmer, lighter bodyshell with a thinner bezel and a generally more refined appearance. It may also have a new processor chip, the original model had a Tegra 3 chip from Nvidia but the next model is thought to be using Qualcomm silicon.
If Google is indeed planning a launch as soon as the end of June or beginning of July we think it’ll start announcing schedules and sending out press invitations fairly soon. We’ll keep you informed as more information emerges.
