Nokia has released a teaser clip of its forthcoming Lumia model, which will likely be the one announced at an event scheduled by the company for tomorrow on Tuesday May 14.
Nokia’s main model being rumoured is the Lumia 928, but this is thought to be a US-only model exclusively under carrier Verizon, however, there’s also thought to be the Lumia 925 in the works which some say is an international variant. How many similarities the phones have or whether they are identical isn’t clear and it’s possible that one or both of the devices could be the much-rumoured Lumia Catwalk.
The teaser clip shows several panning extreme close-up shots, firstly of the Nokia logo which would appear to be at the top of the phone if the speaker and what looks like a front-facing camera are anything to go by. We then see what looks like a massive camera lens followed by some smooth white bodywork and a dual-LED flash setup. This then pans up to show the enormous camera port slightly protruding in the background.
Nokia uses the phrase ‘more than your eyes can see’ during the ad, apparently referencing the camera capabilities and hinting that photos and video will be absolutely crammed with detail.
Rumours suggest much of the Lumia 925 Catwalk’s spec will be similar to the Lumia 920 flagship but it will be a thinner and more refined handset (in the vein of the already previewed Lumia 928) and feature an aluminium body to reduce overall weight.
The camera is said to be an 8.7-megapixel setup, likely still using Nokia’s contracted Carl Zeiss tech and reportedly with an f/2.0 aperture.
It’s not clear whether it will use the Lumia 920’s optical stabilisation PureView feature as this contributed to the phone’s bulk and it would seem this is something Nokia’s seeking to avoid with the new handset. However, it’s possible Nokia may have figured out a way of trimming everything down while maintaining functionality.
