The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active has leaked online showing off its brightly coloured, ruggedised and dust and water resistant bodyshell.

Previous rumours suggested the spec would be the same as the regular Galaxy S4 and one of the pictures shows the phone’s AnTuTu results with a spec including a 1.9GHz quad-core processor with an Adreno 320 GPU. This would imply that it does indeed sport the same hardware as the regular Galaxy S4.
The display is said to be the same 5-inch Super AMOLED setup and the benchmark results show the same 1920x1080 pixel Full HD resolution, although weirdly the stats show a pixel density of 480 pixels-per-inch (ppi) instead of the Galaxy S4’s 440ppi. We’d be inclined to suggest a smaller display but this thing still looks massive – not sure what to make of this one, folks.
The pictures were leaked to GSMArena by an anonymous ‘tipster’, who added that the phone has an 8-megapixel camera instead of the Galaxy S4’s 13-megapixel setup
While the spec is different the main change is the design. There are no capacitive buttons on the front as all three keys are physical buttons. The outer shell is bright red, though previous leaks have shown an orange variant so it may come in multiple colours and it has black bumpers at the top and bottom of the back panel which appear to be bolted into the main chassis.
The phone’s bodywork has a slightly metallic sheen to it, but whether this is a repeat of Samsung’s treatment of polycarbonate as with the main Galaxy S4 model or if the handset is made from another material isn’t yet clear.
The Galaxy S4 Active is expected to be announced around the end of May or the beginning of June with a release to follow. Allegedly the handsets has been recently put on show in Croatia which would suggest Samsung is gearing up for a full launch shortly.
