XonoMail BETA for Android, I’m Lovin’ It!

xonomail

I think it’s pretty safe to say that as a consumer collective, we have become accustomed to the same things when it comes to email clients. The ones that separate themselves in our mind are usually ones with a holo UI and a twist on the otherwise basic functions of your mobile email app. Well, XonoMail has taken a different approach entirely, by categorizing your emails for you. Caught your attention yet?

This application doesn’t try to give you some flowery interface that you are going to get annoyed looking at. Instead, its simple, its plain, it’s Holo. This is just one feature that I applaud because it adds to the overall uniformed feel of my phone. I can’t stand daily use apps such as email clients that are chalk full of amazing features, but have such a grotesque, outdated user interface that it makes them more of a burden than a benefit to use them.

Now, we move on to the niche that this app has filled. XonoMail takes your emails and categorizes them based on what type of email it considers it to be, as well as who sent it to you. Best part is, you do NOT have to set ANY of this up, the app does it all. Consider it to be the Google Now of emails. It learns your emails and categorizes them for you. I did a 72 hour test run on it, communicating with the company regularly, and I was very pleased. Seeing as how I talk to Stormy Beach a lot, it was great to see all of the emails he sent me under his address without me having to search and things of that nature.

Another plus of this app is the developers who made it. I did have some hiccups with the app here and there, and within 24 hours, the problem was patched and released onto Google Play. They were there for support, I was able to easily ask questions to get a better understand of the app, which made my experience as the end user very pleasurable. I would just simply like to take a moment to give major props to the developers, because they are truly the epitome of what an app team should exhibit.

However, with every great app, there are some downsides. This list of downsides includes:

- Available in US only.

- Does NOT support Exchange enterprise email.

- Does NOT support enterprise gmail account.

- Categories only available with Gmail and with English email.

Let me stop you before you get discouraged, though. This app is in BETA! As the Google Play Store listing states, “We are working hard to bring XonoMail official version to everyone.” Therefore, do not turn away because of minor setbacks. This app really is great, and considering how complex its niche feature is, they are doing a great job.

Overall, this app was great, the support was great, but there are a couple of downsides. So, if you are walking on U.S. soil right now, go ahead and load a copy of XonoMail onto your phone. Then, after using it for a while, tell us what you thing in the comments below!
