Asus has announced its latest tablet product on-stage at Computex 2013 in Tapei and it’s a new iteration of the popular Transformer series dubbed the Transformer Pad Infinity.
Carrying on the ‘Infinity’ brand introduced with the Padfone Infinity, the latest Transformer slate is a 10-inch device with a detachable keyboard dock and powered by Nvidia’s new Tegra 4 quad-core chip. This is a Cortex-A15-based processor clocked at 1.9GHz with 2GB of RAM a 72-core graphics processing unit (GPU). Asus chief Jonney Shih revealed the tablet and claimed the Tegra 4 as the world’s fastest quad-core chip.
The 10.1-inch IPS display packs a 2560x1600 pixel Full HD resolution which should clock in at around 300 pixels-per-inch (ppi). As usual from Asus’ Transformer series, the chassis is extremely thin and made from aluminium with a spun finish. Connectivity seems to be a strong suit with a full-size USB port, Bluetooth and an HDMI output capable of supporting 4k video. Internal storage is 32GB and the device will support microSD via the dock. Other details are yet to be confirmed but we’d expect the usual trick of a battery pack in both the dock and the tablet for a bit of a boost when connected. There’s also a 5-megapixel camera on the rear of the slate and a 1.2-megapixel webcam on the front.
The whole kit and caboodle is powered by Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and as is often the case for Asus’ setups it’s more-or-less stock.
There’s no word on pricing or availability just yet but we’re expecting to hear further details fairly soon. Stay tuned and we’ll keep you updated.
