Nokia EOS With PureView to be first Quad-core Windows Phone?

Nokia's EOS 41-megapixel PureView Windows Phone 8 handset has leaked again in a bright red hue

Another batch of Nokia EOS pictures have leaked online ahead of the device’s supposed launch of July 9, this time it’s sporting a bright red colour scheme.

At this rate we’ll probably have a leak for every colour variant, but again, all the leaked images are converging to give us what is likely quite an accurate and authentic picture of what the Nokia EOS will look like when it arrives.

So far we’ve seen the handset in yellow and grey and each leak has clearly shown the huge port in the back panel designed to accommodate the handsets rumoured 41-megapixel PureView camera.

This setup was previously seen on the Nokia 808 PureView, a Symbian-based proof-of-concept project. Nokia has promised for some time that we’d eventually see the same technology housed in a Windows Phone-based handset and it looks as though its arrival is imminent.

The leaked images and information come once again from WPDang, a Chinese based tech site. This time it claims the Nokia EOS, which is yet to be given its Lumia brand-name, will be available in China. Previously it was revealed the Nokia EOS was planned for the US as an AT&T exclusive but, assuming it’s accurate, the information of a Chinese release confirms the wider global launch we expected.

PhoneArena reports that the phone may be called the Nokia EOS V1, but this may be another codename rather than a launch title, which is more likely to stick to Nokia’s established Lumia 9xx convention.

Some rumours point to Nokia Lumia 1000. Interestingly the report also points to a possible quad-core variant coming after the initial launch of a dual-core model – this is the first we’ve heard of such a suggestion and we’re taking it with a big pile of salt at this stage.

If true though, it would make the Nokia EOS the first quad-core Windows Phone device. The rumoured spec suggests the 41-megapixel camera will feature optical image stabilisation and a Xenon flash. There’ll be 32GB of storage onboard but no microSD and the display will not take advantage of forthcoming Windows Phone updates allowing 1080p Full HD resolutions – instead it will be a 1280x768 pixel OLED setup just like the Lumia 920 and Lumia 925.
