A BlackBerry Z10 firmware update has a reported bug that caused the Z10 to randomly reboot.
According to the article, the random reboot problem is confined to the Z10, so other BlackBerry users needn’t worry, however if you have experienced the same issue and are running an older version of BlackBerry 10, it may be well worth checking to see if you’re running the most updated version of the software before taking other measures.
Random reboots seem to have been more pronounced on Verizon-branded devices in the US. However, an eagle-eyed person at CrackBerry has found a knowledge-based article which not only acknowledges the problem, but narrows it down to specific versions of the OS, versions 10.0.10.684, 10.0.10.672, and 10.0.9.2743.
However, it’s not all bad news for folks who have a BlackBerry Z10 running on those versions of the software, as the article also goes on to state that an update to version 10.1.0.2050 will completely fix the issue.
It seems RIM, despite struggling in the current market due to poor sales and the overblown controversy surrounding BBM, is continuing to take steps to resolve issues reported by users, much like they always have, and we’re keeping our fingers crossed that this hiccup doesn’t affect people’s overall impression of the Z10 and its brother the Q10, because they’re both stellar pieces of hardware.
The future looks bright for BlackBerry, with iOS and Android BBM apps said to be rolling out in the near future. The app was said to be launching yesterday but it will apparently be coming later in the summer and may even come preinstalled on some Android devices.
