The Samsung Galaxy Camera 2 will be unveiled at Samsung's June 20 event

Samsung head honcho JK Shin has confirmed its June 20 event, taking place in London, will see the unveiling of its Samsung Galaxy Camera 2 successor model.

'Samsung will release our latest mirrorless camera that runs on Google’s Android software,' said Shin.

The original Galaxy Camera impressively merged the digital camera concept with a touch display and Google’s Android smartphone operating system to produce something really rather special.

It was warmly received by reviewers, including ourselves, so it’s no real surprise Samsung is following up with a revamped version. Samsung’s head honcho didn’t reveal any further details on what is new about the latest Galaxy Camera, but there isn’t long to wait until June 20 to see what it’s all about.

Previously Samsung announced its event as a combined Galaxy brand and Ativ brand showcase and it is expected to be more mobile focused. Devices pegged to see exposition at the event include the compact Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, the rugged Samsung Galaxy S4 Active and the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom cameraphone.

Some speculation has suggested we could see the much-anticipated Galaxy Note 3 successor model but we’re doubtful, Samsung has previously said it’ll show up in September at IFA in Berlin, Germany, just as the current model did at the same time last year.

Another new rumour points to a Samsung Galaxy Note 12.2 tablet with, surprisingly enough, a 12.2-inch IGZO display, though there’s no word on whether this will show up at the June event. At this point we’d be inclined to say it probably isn’t even real.
