Sony has revealed it is hosting a press event on June 25 in Berlin, Germany.
The tagline on the press invitation reads ‘Lust auf mehr?’ which basically means ‘Want more?’, suggesting Sony is announcing a major entry into its product portfolio.
- Sony Xperia i1 Honami is Sony's next imaging monster
- Sony Xperia L4 is 6.44-inch ‘Togari’ phablet, and it wants to kill the Galaxy Note 3
In terms of possible candidates there are two big ones rumoured which may be on the cards: the Xperia L4 ‘Togari’, a 6.44-inch ‘phablet’ set to rival the Samsung Galaxy Note, and the Xperia i1 Honami which is pegged to be an equally high-spec flagship model with a smaller 5-inch screen and some fantastic camera hardware.
There’s also the rumours currently circulating about an Xperia Z model setup as a ‘Nexus Edition’ running stock Android, just like the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One Nexus Editions already announced by Google.
The Xperia L4 will feature a 6.44-inch Full HD display and a stylus, but it’ll also have advanced technology to allow you to write and sketch on the screen accurately with virtually anything vaguely pointy, such as a pencil. Sony’s OptiContrast and Mobile Bravia Engine 2 technologies are also pegged to be onboard.
The processor is said to be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 or 800 with 2GB of RAM and an Adreno 330 graphics processor (GPU).
There will be 32GB of onboard storage, a 3,500mAh battery, 4G, NFC and infrared. Camera hardware is thought to include a 13-megpixel Exmor RS primary and a 2-megapixel secondary.
The Honami Xperia i1 is thought to be a more normal sized smartphone but with a higher-grade spec pegged to replace the Xperia Z as the company flagship.
This model features a 5-inch Full HD 1080p display using Sony IPS White Magic, Sony Mobile Bravia Engine 2 and Triluminos colour technology. It will be powered by a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chip with an Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of RAM. The battery is said to be between 2700mAh and 3000mAh and it’ll support 4G connectivity.
Meanwhile the camera spec is said to be a 20-megapixel Exmor RS setup with an extra large sensor size and Sony BIONZ technology, which allegedly gives Cybershot levels of picture quality.
