Pictures have leaked online showing the Sony Xperia ZU, demonstrating the sheer scale of it next to existing models and the way in which a pencil can be used as a stylus on the display.
The first picture comes via previous Xperia ZU leak source ePrice and shows what appears to be an official press shot of the Xperia ZU being doodled on with a pencil. We can clearly see the Sony logo at the top of the device and it’s way too big to be an Xperia Z.
The second picture comes from a tipster who supplied the snap to GSMArena and shows the Xperia ZU next to Sony’s Xperia ZR with a 4.55-inch display and Samsung’s Galaxy S4 with a 5-inch display. The Xperia ZU is utterly huge alongside these two not-so-small devices.
The Xperia ZU has leaked multiple times in recent months and is widely thought to have a 6.44-inch Full HD 1080p display capable of taking input from an included stylus but also from makeshift styluses such as the pencil shown in the picture.
It’s pegged to run a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset and benchmarks have shown it to be the fastest thing around, quicker even than Samsung’s Qualcomm 800-equipped Galaxy S4 reboot, for which benchmarks have also leaked.
Onboard storage is thought to be 16GB while Android 4.2.2 is the software of choice, overlaid with a custom Sony UI which leaks suggest has been specially tweaked for the larger display real-estate.
Sony has a couple of big events lined-up in the next few months, the first of which is tomorrow (June 25) and it’s expected one of these will be the announcement of the Xperia ZU.
We’ll bring you more as we hear it.
