UK network Three is currently experiencing outages to its 3G mobile internet data services, Know Your Mobile can confirm.
Having noticed this morning that we were unable to get a mobile data connection on our Three 3G SIMs, we got in touch with Three who have confirmed network problems are causing customers to be without mobile internet data.
In an official statement, Three’s spokespeople said: ‘Some of our customers are unable to access the Internet. We are working to restore the service as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience.’
For Three’s sake we hope the network is able to get services resumed fairly quickly, historically customers have reacted badly to prolonged outages. O2 had an outage around this time in 2012 for a few days and backlash in consumer surveys and on Twitter was quite severe, with many responses stating customers had lost faith in the network. That said, it’s not as if subscribers left in droves.
The key difference though is that it would seem Three customers are still able to make calls and send texts, it’s only mobile internet data which is affected, whereas in O2’s case it was a complete blackout of mobile services.
We’ll be keeping an eye on the situation throughout the day and will update you with more information as it emerges. Hopefully this will just be a short blip.
