Until the iPhone 5S drops, the iPhone 5 is still Apple’s flagship, and its feature set is just as impressive now as when it launched, back in September of 2012. With the device’s software soon to be bumped up to the drastically overhauled iOS 7 now’s a great time to be buying one and there are some rare old deals to be had, if one looks in the right place.
Thankfully (for you) we’ve done the looking for you, and thrown together a few of our favourite deals for the iPhone 5, so get your wallet out and read on.
O2 is currently offering the 16GB version of the iPhone 5 with 600 minutes, unlimited texts and 750MB of data for £32 a month, and £49.99 for the device. You can get a 32GB version for the same monthly cost with the same amount of minutes, texts and data but you’ll have to pay £219.99 up-front. Up it to a 64GB device and you’ll have to part with £289.99 upfront for the same deal.
If you’re with EE, or want to be, you can pick up an iPhone 5 for as little as £9.99 up-front. This will give you a 16GB device on a 24 month plan, which will give you unlimited calls and texts plus 10GB of data for £46 a month. The 32GB version could be yours for as little as £119.99, though it will cost you £51 a month and give you unlimited calls and texts plus a whopping 20GB of data.
Three has some of the best deals around right now, offering the lowest up-front costs and reasonable monthly plans. It's offering a 16GB handset with all-you-can-eat data, 2000 minutes, 5000 texts and 5000 Three-to-Three minutes for £36 a month and just £29 to pay in advance. Bump up to the 32GB version and the same deal will cost you £129 off the bat, while the 64GB will set you back £199.
Tesco Mobile may just have the edge over Three though, it's offering the 16GB device for free, a word that we’re usually wary of, at £45 a month, which will give you 3000 minutes, 5000 texts and 2GB data on a two-year contract and, after looking closely, there don’t appear to be any hidden nasties involved in the deal – which is always nice.
If you’re a fan of Vodafone, you can choose its ‘Big Red’ plan, which gives you unlimited calls and texts and 4GB of internet for £47 a month and a free 16GB device. The 32GB version on the same plan costs £19 in advance with a £52 monthly charge for two years, while the 64GB device offers the same price plan for £52 a month and a £99 one-off payment for the phone. Vodafone also has some 12-month plans available if you want to pay slightly more over a shorter period – but you’d likely be better off buying the device SIM-free and getting the device on prepay rather than taking one of those.
There are lots of great deals around if you spend some time scouring the internet, but these are the ones that we feel offer the most bang for your buck, and when you’re already paying the premium that goes with an Apple device, every penny counts!
