A picture of the rumoured BlackBerry A10 has leaked online confirming some of the previously leaked details.
While it’s difficult to get a sense of scale from the image, the tipster who provided it to BGR apparently reiterated the 5-inch screen size previously mentioned. It’s also said to be Super AMOLED and to have a 1280x720 pixel resolution.
We can see from the photo that as per the previously leaked description the handset does bear some similarity to the Samsung Galaxy S4, in the sense that it is essentially an enlarged BlackBerry Z10 but with much more rounded-off corners for a ‘less aggressive’ appearance.
BGR also reports that the source revealed the BlackBerry A10’s back panel will ‘feature something similar to the BlackBerry Q10,’ though there’s no picture of the rear so we’re left with a bit of a mystery as to what that actually means. We’re guessing BlackBerry’s so-called ‘Glass Weave’ material?
A screenshot from the device also shows it’s running the forthcoming BlackBerry 10.2 update which means you’ll be able to side-load Android Jelly Bean apps onto it.
Other details reiterated in the latest report include the dual-core processor with 2GB of RAM – this is likely to be a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chip. BGR makes mention of a ‘separate’ graphics processing unit (GPU) and we’ve seen mention elsewhere of an 8-megapixel camera.
Earlier reports made specific reference to the device’s power and gaming capabilities and it’s thought that as well as being the largest smartphone BlackBerry has ever produced it will also be the most powerful.
We’ll be keeping an eye out for more BlackBerry A10 news as it emerges. At present the device is expected for launch in the later part of Autumn, around October or November at the latest.
