The HTC Zara will be a female version of the HTC One and forms part of the same female-centric range of devices as last year’s HTC Rhyme.
The HTC Zara is rumoured to be built with a plastic chassis, rather than the metal chassis that’s been used recently in the HTC One and HTC One Mini, as well as the rumoured HTC One Max.
The change in materials suggests that HTC may be trying to make the HTZ Zara lighter than other handsets in its arsenal, or it may simply be trying to cut costs and produce a budget-friendly device, a market in which HTC has been successful previously.
Details about the HTC Zara are scarce at the moment, but the suggestion is that it could be in very early stages of development.
In addition to this purported lady-phone, HTC is also launching its Desire 500 smartphone later today in Taiwan, to go alongside the Desire 200 and Desire 600 devices that were announced this year.
The Desire branding is one that has endured for HTC over the years and creating a brand in the way that Samsung has with its Galaxy devices is a smart move, providing quality and consistency that people recognise.
The Desire 500 is expected to be a mid-range device kitted out with a quad-core chip, and will likely be sold exclusively by Taiwan Mobile before being available to other service providers, but you shouldn’t have too long to wait before you’re able to get your hands on one.
