An updated HTC One will be launched later in 2013, while the HTC M8, HTC's 2014 One flagship, will be released next year.
Pocket-Lint heard the news from a source at HTC, but didn't give much information regarding what the new HTC One will feature.
The original HTC One features a Snapdragon 600 processor, so it seems pretty likely the company will add a Snapdragon 800 into the mix. At the moment, only the Sony Xperia Z Ultra has launched on Qualcomm's top-end chip.
It's also thought the updated HTC One will feature Android 4.3 when it launches. This would seem to add up after many of the new OS features have been installed on the Google Edition HTC One that launched in the US last week.
The HTC M8 will also be branded the HTC One, says Pocket-Lint, but the website has no more information to add to that rumour. Could its naming conventions go along the same lines as Samsung by calling the next version of its aluminium-clad flagship the HTC One 2?
Pocket-Lint did however say that HTC is referring to the M8 under a different moniker to external suppliers in an attempt to keep the device secret.
PhoneArena has speculated the HTC One 2 will feature a larger (possibly 4.7-inch) screen and is convinced the device will include the Snapdragon 800 chip.
The HTC One was given the codename M7 ahead of its launch earlier in the year, so the M8 codename would certainly make sense.
2013 looks to be a busy year for HTC, with a smaller, budget version of the HTC One set to launch as the HTC One Mini and the company revamping and possibly merging its One and Butterfly lines.
