iOS 7 is proving to be the most popular iOS version in history with more downloads than any iOS version before.
Onswipe analysed the number of downloads and discovered iOS 7 is running on 0.46 percent of devices.
This may sound like a very small proportion of iDevices, but when you consider there are around half a billion iPhones and iPads in circulations, this does account for a pretty high number.
In comparison, three weeks after iOS 6 was released, the beta version was only running on 0.25 percent of devices.
The reason for such a large number of people downloading and installing iOS 7.is that the update is available to install by anyone, as long as you're registered as a developer (which costs £99 to do). You don't have to develop anything but joining Apple's developer program does mean you get to test the newest updates first.
iOS 7 is in its second beta stage. The first could only be installed on iPhones, but beta 2 is not only more stable, but also supports iPads too.
iOS 7 is a pretty big overhaul for Apple, with its first icon update since the platform launched five years ago and a number of additions such as Control Center where you can turn connections on and off with a quick tap, real multitasking with app overviews displayed and a funky paralax wallpaper effect that makes the background look almost 3D. You can share files via AirDrop and the Google Now-like 'Today' function in Notifications Center.
iOS 7 is expected to roll out in September. If this is too long to wait, check out our sister site, The Full Signal to see how to install iOS 7 on your iPhone or iPad now.
