Another collection of pictures of the iPhone 5S’s aluminium chassis has emerged online. The images fit with pictures we’ve previously seen and also show a crate of iPhone’s wrapped in plastic, suggesting they’re ready to be shipped on to another stage in the production process.
The snaps are also accompanied by a set of specs which re-iterate the rumours of a 4-inch IGZO display panel with an 1136x640 pixel resolution. The IGZO technology is said to produce a bright picture but be more battery friendly than the older iPhone displays.
It’ll also pack the same Apple A6 processor as the iPhone 5 but with a higher clockspeed, though there’s no indication of exactly what speed it’ll be running at just now. It’ll be teamed up with 2GB of RAM and a faster PowerVR SGX544MP4 quad-core graphics processing unit (GPU) rather than the iPhone 5’s triple-core setup. The rumour source also claims NFC and a finerprint scanner will be onboard.
The camera is said to be rated at 12-megapixels and will feature a dual-LED flash, supporting earlier leaked schematics which showed a dual-LED port.
Apple is thought to be gearing up for a launch in September where we may also see the so-called iPhone Light, a budget variant made from plastic which has leaked in abundance in recent months. Apple’s tablet line-up is also due for a refresh with sources saying the iPad 4 will come in September but the rumoured iPad Mini 2, previously believed to be arriving by Christmas, may now have been delayed until 2014, according to reports.
There’s also plenty of speculation on whether Apple will release two iPad Mini successors, one without a Retina display but sporting a re-designed bodyshell and the other to follow with a high-resolution Retina touchscreen.
