The Moto X, due to launch tomorrow, may feature a NanoSIM card rather than MicroSIM card as is the standard for smartphones.
The news comes from GSM Insider (via CNET) which leaked a picture of what it says is the Moto X's SIM card tray.
A source from Hong Kong sent GSMInsider the picture, saying it's due to launch in countries outside the US, contrary to what was previously believed.
GSMInsider says the size of the SIM card corresponds with the iPhone 5's NanoSIM, although it's a little hard to tell from the small picture that is shown in comparison to the side of what purports to be the Moto X.
The iPhone 5 was the first device to feature the NanoSIM-sized card and created quite a stir. It's around 40 per cent smaller than a MicroSIM and although MicroSIM cards can be cut down to the correct size, there's always a risk involved that could deem your SIM card useless.
However, Apple is known for breaking the mould with its non-standard Lightning charging/data port rather than the microUSB port seen on most smartphones launching today.
The Moto X is said to be the first fully-customisable device to hit US shores and will feature a 720p display with a Magic Glass overlay. Android 4.3 will be running from the box and the 10.5-megapixel camera will offer a new photography experience. A dual-core Qualcomm S4 Pro processor will power the show and a 2200mAh battery will keep the juice flowing.
GSMInsider says it doubts whether the leak in Hong Kong means the device will be landing anywhere but the US, but we live in hope it will be launched in the UK.
