iPhones will soon be covered with Applecare+ when the service lands in Europe later this year

Apple is set to roll its Applecare+ accidental cover policy to Europe in the coming months, meaning your iPhone is covered if you accidentally break it.

Applecare+ already covers accidental damage inflicted upon iPhones in the US, but the service is said to be rolling out across Europe by the end of the year.

According to French blog iGen, the US scheme has been so successful, Apple wants the whole of Europe to take advantage.

Apple's Applecare+ service offers two days of technical support via phone and covers your device for two hardware repairs in the period.

The service costs $99 in the US, so it's expected to cost around £100 in the UK and covers:

  • Your iPhone

  • Battery

  • Included earphones and accessories

  • Included USB cable and power adapter

Each hardware repair costs $49 plus tax, which equates to around £30. We'd expect the repairs to cost around £50 each in the UK.

You must register your device for Applecare+ within 30 days of purchase to qualify.

iPhones come with 90 days phone support and one year's warranty if your device breaks as standard.

There's no word on whether Apple plans to roll out the service to cover iPads too, but we'll keep you posted.
