The Samsung Galaxy Note 3's specs have been revealed ahead of launch at IFA 2013 on September 4

The supposed final spec list for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, set to launch at a Samsung Unpacked event ahead of IFA 2013 on September 4 in Berlin, Germany, has emerged online.

According to SamMobile, a previously reliably source for accurate Samsung leaks, a ‘trusted insider’ has revealed two variants for the Galaxy Note 3.

The first of these is the SM-N900, which will run a 1.8GHz Samsung Exynos 5420 octa-core chip with a Mali-T628 MP6 graphics processing unit. This model will not have 4G LTE connectivity and it’s not known how much RAM wit will have.

Both versions will have 5.68-inch full HD Super AMOLED displays with a 1920x1080 pixel resolution, plus a 13-megapixel camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS). They’ll also share options for 16GB, 32GB and 64GB of onboard storage and microSD support for cards up to 64GB, plus a 3,200mAh battery pack.

The other model, the SM-N9005, has a number of spec details missing: the processor and GPU have not yet been identified, but it’s known to be carrying 3GB of RAM and to have 4G LTE support. Our money is on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800.

Both handsets run Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, the only difference being slightly different firmware variants. The N900 uses N900XXEBMH5/N900OXABMH5/N900XXUBMH5, while the N9005 is on N9005XXEBMH9/N9005OXABMH9/N9005XXUBMH9. There is probably little difference other than being tailored to the different processor chips.

SamMobile also added that the Galaxy Note 3 variants will be most widely available as the 32GB storage option and only a limited selection of markets will receive the 64GB model. It was also revealed the physical size and dimensions of the Galaxy Note 3 will be very close, if not identical to, the current Galaxy Note 2, but with a larger display squeezed in. This would mimic the changes from the Galaxy S3 to the Galaxy S4.

The Galaxy S4 launch has set a precedent on Samsung’s design and launch behaviour. The company released a version running its Exynos octa-core chip only in Asian markets, contrary to earlier expectations. The rest of the world got the Qualcomm 600-based model and it seems pretty likely the same scenario will happen again with the company’s iconic phablet.

We’ll be in attendance at IFA 2013 to see Samsung’s big launch on September 4, stay tuned for all the juicy details.
