A fresh batch of pictures has appeared online showcasing the HTC One Max phablet and the evidence is more compelling than ever that it will feature a fingerprint scanner.
As well as showing the HTC One Max alongside its smaller stable-mate, the images, which appeared on ePrice, show the back panel with the black square we’ve seen before, previously suspected to be a fingerprint scanner. The photos then go on to show the back plate removed and what the sensor looks like underneath.
Lastly, we can see a number of quick settings in the drop-down menu and as well as the usual set of Wi-Fi, rotation, sound, brightness and Bluetooth, amongst others, there’s also a toggle with a fingerprint icon.
It’s not clear what fingerprint capabilities HTC has planned. Apple is said to be bringing fingerprint scanning to the iPhone 5S but rumours say that’s tied into a new eWallet service.
HTC is thought to be launching the One Max in the few days running up to IFA 2013 in Berlin Germany. That conference starts on September 6, but Sony and Samsung are already launching the Xperia Z1 and Galaxy Note 3 respectively on September 4, leaving September 5 as a probable launch date for the Taiwanese manufacturer.
Aside from the fingerprint scanner, the HTC One Max features the same aluminium exterior design as the HTC One but on a bigger scale, including stereo front-facing speakers with HTC’s BoomSound and Beats Audio. The display is a 5.9-inch Super LCD3 with a full HD 1080p resolution while the processor is a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon with 2GB of RAM and an Adreno 330 graphics processing unit. There’ll be 16GB of onboard storage and supposedly microSD support for card expansion. The internal battery is thought to be a 3,200mAh or 3,300mAh pack.
