HTC One X+ Android 4.2.2 update rolls out

News Paul Briden 12:08, 9 Aug 2013

HTC has started updating the HTC One X and HTC One X+ with Android 4.2.2 and HTC Sense 5

The Android 4.2.2 update is rolling out for the HTC One X+ and HTC One X, bringing with it the HTC Sense 5 interface.

It’s going out over-the-air to download directly onto your handset and will bring a box of tricks from the current HTC One flagship, including video highlights, the BlinkFeed news, photo and social networking screen, a new lockscreen and a new music app.

HTC Sense 5 also introduces an entirely new aesthetic with updated icons, menu screens and a new typeface which looks very smart indeed. Android 4.2.2 itself will bring performance enhancements and bugfixes.

The update is currently rolling out in HTC’s home country of Taiwan, according to Trusted Reviews, but it’s expected to follow very soon for other regions. It’ll bring the HTC One X and One X+ bang up to date and keep the devices, which are now over a year old, relevant and competitive options in the current smartphone market.

HTC is yet to reveal any more information regarding the HTC One S, which it previously said would be updated to Android 4.2 but has since cancelled its plans for the handset. The news that the HTC One S would not be updated was met with dissatisfaction by device owners and a petition is still underway to pressure HTC into changing its mind.

Rumours have suggested HTC may be reconsidering the HTC One S, but it’s still very much up in the air at this point.
