The Samsung Galaxy Golden has launched in Korea, introducing a weird combination of old-school clamshell form factor with a physical dial-pad and a pair of smartphone touch displays.
The handset runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with the TouchWiz UI just as any other Samsung Galaxy model. It features a 1.7GHz dual-core processor while both displays are the same 3.7-inch AMOLED setup with a 800x480 pixel resolution. It also had both an 8-megapixel rear-facing primary camera and a 1.9-megapixel front-facing secondary. There’s full 4G LTE support and an FM radio, plus the Samsung S Health app. Battery power comes from a 1,820mAh unit.
Like the rumours surrounding Apple’s iPhone 5S, the Samsung Galaxy Golden is living up to its name by coming in a so-called champagne gold hue, because it’s all the rage and stuff. So far Samsung has only confirmed the phone will be available in Korea but it hasn’t announced a release date just yet.
It’ll retail for 799,700 South Korean Won, which is about £456, so quite expensive then – the twin touchscreens are probably responsible. There’s still no word on an international release but we’ll be keeping an eye out for any news from Samsung on this. Maybe we’ll get to play with one at IFA 2013 in early September?
What do you think readers? Would you buy a golden coloured clamshell smartphone? Are you this man?
