Samsung Galaxy Note 3: First four million units to run Snapdragon 800 processor

Up to 70 per cent of Samsung Galaxy Note 3 smartphones will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor

The first four million Samsung Galaxy Note 3 units shipped will run the Qualcom Snapdragon 800 processor, with 70 per cent of the total using Qualcomm's chip rather than the Samsung Exynos 5420 CPU.

The news comes from South Korea and was originally reported by Korean website ET News.

The Droid Guy has suggested the majority of the Snapdragon 800-powered devices will be targeted at the North American markets (and, we presume, the UK/European market too), while the Exynos CPU-equipped phablets will be heading to Asia.

Qualcomm currently holds 44.6 per cent of the CPU marketshare, while Samsung lags behind with 13 per cent according to a study by analyst firm Strategy Analytics.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is set to land on September 4 at a launch event at IFA in Berlin.

So far, rumoured specs include a 5.7-inch 1080pdisplay, a 13-megapixel camera around the back with a 2-megapixel camera on the front, 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, with a microSD card slot and a 3450mAh battery.
