We have seen it about a bajillion times already but the Sony Xperia Z1 has leaked again in a series of pictures, and this time they’re seriously high-res shots, showing off Sony’s design to its fullest.
The images came from Chinese site 356dian.com and show both the black and white versions of the Sony Xperia Z1, formerly known as the Sony Honami, from all angles.
The device also mimics earlier leaks by having its name emblazoned across the homescreen, confirming that Xperia Z1 is the name Sony will use when the product goes live.
We can see the 5-inch full HD Triluminos display with Sony’s X-Reality engine looking suitably bright and colourful. The back panel appears to be polycarbonate rather than glass and again we can see panelled detailing along the edges, Sony’s signature round power button, port covers and what appears to be a large speaker grille in the bottom edge of the handset.
Sony’s G-lens branding is also visible once more next to the camera port, which is believed to house a 20-megapixel Exmor RS sensor capable of 4K video recording, with a dedicated BIONZ image processor and Xenon flash.
There’s little else to glean from the photos in terms of details, but rumours indicate a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor resides inside along with an Adreno 330 graphics processing unit (GPU), 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and a 3,000mAh battery pack. It’s also expected to have the usual array of connectivity options for NFC, MHL, 4G, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi and Sony’s waterproofing certification is said to be making a return.
Sony has an launch event scheduled for September 4 ahead of IFA 2013 in Berlin, Germany, where it is expected to unveil the Sony Xperia Z1. It’ll be going head-to-head with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 launch on the same day.
