Vodafone has announced its 4G coverage will be available in London from August 29.
Vodafone will be taking O2 head-on as the Telefonica-owned network will also be launching its 4G services on August 29, but in three cities initially.
Vodafone will be rolling its 4G services out to 13 towns and cities by the end of the year.
Like O2, Vodafone will be offering contracts starting at £26 per month, making it more expensive than existing 4G provider, EE.
EE offers 4G in more than 30 cities and its tariffs start at just £21 per month, although that's for a data-only tariff.
Vodafone hasn't announced what the £26 per month will get you, but we assume it will be similar to EE's £26 per-month tariff.
Vodafone says it will offer customers unlimited UK data for the first three months, followed by double the data allowance than on standard Vodafone non-4G plans.
However, Vodafone has announced a number of extras it will be bringing to try to tempt you to sign up to their network rather than O2 or EE, plus unlimited talk time and texts.
The network has partnered up with Sky to offer football fans access to Sky Sports Mobile TV, meaning you can watch up to 100 Premier League, Sky Bet Football league, UEFA Champions League, SPL and La Liga football matches live.
Other sporting action will also be available on Sky Sports Mobile, such as the final Ashes test from late August and Ashes tour in Australia in the winter, plus Major golf events, tennis from the US Open and Heineken Cup rugby.
If you're more into music, Vodafone is offering a Spotify Premium account included in the plan, giving you access to more than 20 million songs to listen to online and offline.
Guy Laurence, CEO of Vodafone UK said, 'with 4G, speed is just the start: it’s what you do with it that really matters. We are taking 4G into a new league by offering sport; and changing the tune with all the music you could want. 4G is finally worth getting and there’s plenty to look forward to...'
You can preregister to get a Vodafone 4G plan from August 12, with the service becoming active on August 29.
The 4G 800MHz band of spectrum was readied for 4G early, meaning networks were able to roll out their services earlier than expected.
Three is expected to announce its 4G availability in the coming weeks.
