Dead Trigger 2 coming to iOS and Android with a batch of new features

Madfinger Games has revealed it will shortly announce the sequel to popular mobile shooter Dead Trigger, aptly named Dead Trigger 2.

Dead Trigger 2 will be officially outed at the Tokyo Games Show, which takes place next week, but ahead of the full launch the developer has detailed some of the features we can expect to see in the game when it arrives. In addition, a number of in-game screenshots have been published for you to wrap your eyes around too.

So one of the main features different from the first game is that you won’t be alone. Ok, in Dead Trigger you did interact with non-player characters (NPCs), but only in little non-gameplay segments which were largely dialogue and took place between missions. Now though, in Dead Trigger 2, you’ll have other non-undead characters in the game world alongside you, helping you to stomp them zombies good and proper.

There’s also something referred to as a ‘Hide-out concept’, suggesting some kind of hub from which to conduct your missions which may have some perks involved. Perhaps you’ll be required to defend it at certain points?

Naturally graphics have been overhauled and now include better water reflection effects, dynamic shadows and lighting and enhanced grass. Physics gets a look in to – it’s now ‘ragdoll’, meaning dead zombies will flop around and bounce of the environment convincingly after you’ve re-deaded them.

The sequel will include new locations and you’ll be able to take the fight to the zombie hordes in a number of places including London, Shangai, Africa and the Middle East – a bit like being Brad Pitt in the World War Z movie then? Probably, but with a bit more shooting on your part. There’s also some multiplayer component hinted at, as the details suggest you will be part of a global Resistance ‘together with millions of other players’.

Boss fights will also be enhanced by new AI and it’s promised there won’t be repetitive gameplay. Meanwhile, the game is said to be offered free-to-play with ‘no premium content or premium weapons’. It appears you’ll be able to collect new items and gear by finding in-game blueprints.

The game will also be cross-platform and you’ll be able to access your Dead Trigger 2 profile from a range of devices, including iOS, Android, Apple Mac, Facebook and Valve’s Steam PC platform.
