Excitement is high today in the Android community as the next version of Android, which will be called KitKat, not Key Lime Pie as we had been anticipating, was announced by Sundar Pichai and Google. There was also a video that was uploaded of the unveiling of the Android KitKat statue at Google HQ, though that video has been taken down now, but not before noticing something very interesting.
If you look at the above picture, you will see the phone that is being pointed to and the very distinctive ‘Nexus’ branding on its back. Rather conveniently, it’s also accompanied in the shot by the Nexus 4. Whether you believe this in inadvertant or not, it does confirm the physical existence of a new Nexus phone, and from the size of it, it looks a lot like it could be a Nexus 5.
Everyone all over the web is having a good go at trying to zoom in on the branding of the phone, but the concensus is that the branding most closely resembles the LG logo, meaning that several rumours that LG was still making the Nexus 5 could be true. All of this is obviously guesswork considering the resolution of the photo, but with November approaching and the knowledge that a new version of Android is expected then, we should be hearing about a new Nexus phone soon.
What do you think about the photo? Do you think that could really be the Nexus 5? Let us know what you think in the comments.
