HTC reveals its latest devices with the mid-range Desire 601 and budget Desire 300

HTC has taken the wraps off its latest mid-range and entry-level handsets with the HTC Desire 300 and HTC Desire 601.

The HTC Desire 300 is pegged as the entry-level model with a 4.3-inch 800x480 pixel display and a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1.GHz with 512MB of RAM.

It runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with HTC’s Sense 5 UI on top and the HTC Blinkfeed homescreen. There’s a 5-megapixel camera onboard with an f/2.8 aperture but it doesn’t have HTC’s Ultrapixel technology or HTC Zoe interface and features.

Storage is pretty low at 4GB with only 1.2GB being user available but it does have a microSD card slot and a removable 1,650mAh battery pack.

The HTC Desire 601 is a bit more competitive with a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 dual-core chip, featuring 4G LTE mobile data connectivity and 1GB of RAM. The display is a 4.5-inch qHD LCD panel with a 960x540 pixel resolution at 245 pixels-per-inch (ppi).

It’s also Android 4.2 Jelly Bean-based with HTC Sense 5, Blinkfeed and this time with HTC Zoe for the 5-megapixel camera, which also has an LED flash and 1080p video capture. Onboard storage is 8GB with microSD support while the speakers are front-facing stereo BoomSound, just like the HTC One.

HTC is yet to announce any pricing details for either handset but the HTC Desire 601 will arrive first in Europe at an unspecified point in September while the HTC Desire 300 will turn up in October.
