LG has officially unveiled the LG Vu 3, the third iteration of the company’s large-form phablet handset.
The LG Vu features a 5.2-inch IPS display with a 1280x960 pixel resolution and a 4:3 aspect ratio – that latter feature means it’s quite a wide device, making it a little unusual to look at but with plenty of display real-estate.
In the engine bay is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core chip, putting the phone on a par with the LG G2 flagship when it comes to performance – RAM and GPU details are still unconfirmed but we expect that like the LG G2 it’ll be standard with 2GB of RAM and an Adreno 330.
The handset also runs Android, although LG hasn’t revealed which build yet it’s probably going to be 4.3 Jelly Bean and it has LG’s UI overlay complete with custom features, such as KnockON, allowing you to wake the phone up or put it to sleep with a double tap of the display.
You’ve also got a 13-megapixel camera and LTE-Advance 4G connectivity. As with previous LG Vu models the LG Vu 3 features a stylus for writing and drawing.
LG is yet to mention anything regarding international availability. On the one hand, the company has been far more globally facing with its recent launches of the LG G2 and LG G Pad 8.3, launching these devices in New York and at IFA 2013 in Berlin, respectively.
Previously many LG devices have either failed to make their way to the UK or have arrived far too late to make significant sales, in particular the previous two LG Vu devices arrived a long time after their launches in Korea.
LG’s quieter launch this time round on its Korean website could suggest that once again this is a Korean-orientated release which could take some time to show up on our shores.
We’ll have more news for you on the LG Vu 3 as it emerges.
