Sony SmartWatch 2 Makes An Appearance At IFA 2013

sony smartwatch 2 There’s been very little new about the Sony SmartWatch 2 since a certain rumour that said it would actually be released in July, but that didn’t pan out obviously. Since then, we’ve been hanging out for any news about the device as Sony got a solid headstart on the other manufacturers with their June announcement and proof of concept, but it was casually glossed over at the Sony event today so perhaps it hasn’t exactly gone as Sony were planning.

Thanks to engadget’s hands-on with the device, we can tell that is hasn’t changed all that much from the original official announcement. There isn’t anything to suggest that the SmartWatch 2 won’t have what we were promised in June including one-touch NFC pairing and an Android-based OS, though Sony is saying that the SmartWatch 2 will have 4 days of battery life, which is good, but not quite the “longest battery life of any smartwatch” Sony had once suggested.

The Sony SmartWatch 2 is due for release this month, so what we’re looking at here is likely going to go on sale very soon, presumably around the time the Sony Xperia Z1 is also going to go on sale. Is anyone interested in getting a Sony SmartWatch 2? Let us know what you think of it in the comments.
