The Sony Xperia Z1 is barely out the door and already a set of specs have emerged for an alleged Sony Xperia Z2 follow-up.
The word comes courtesy of AndroidSaS citing sources from Japan, and although it’s an interesting idea it’s certainly time to grab your salt shakers.
A 5.2-inch IGZO Triluminos display is reportedly on the cards this time round, again with a full HD 1080p resolution at 506 pixels-per-inch (ppi). The processor is still going to be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 but with a boost to 3GB of RAM and it’s said to retain the same 20.7-megapixel camera on the rear, but this time with a Xenon flash instead of LED.
Android 4.4 KitKat is planned to be onboard and the device is said to be gearing up to launch in 2014 with April currently being pegged as the month to watch.
Sony will almost certainly have a follow-up flagship in development, but whether it’ll be called the Xperia Z2 and whether it’ll have these specs for a launch in April remains to be seen.
And there’s every reason for the company to keep things moving, initial reception to the Xperia Z1 has been largely positive, gaining four out of five stars at T3, V3 and CNET, while Wired gave it 9/10.
