The Sony Xperia Z1 could be getting an Android 4.4 KitKat update on November 7, reports claim

Sony’s Xperia Z1 flagship could be updated to Android 4.4 KitKat in November, according to rumours.

Allegedly, November 7 is the date to watch according to AndroidSAS’ unnamed sources. Google has already confirmed the existence of Android 4.4 and its build name as KitKat, but the build hasn’t actually rolled out yet, it’s expected to be released this month with reports suggesting it’ll arrive aboard the much-rumoured Nexus 5.

Currently both Android KitKat and the Nexus 5 are rumoured for an October 31 launch, so November 7 would be a pretty quick turnaround, however, the idea of Sony already having access to a build for its latest flagship isn’t too far-fetched.

Very little is known about Android 4.4 KitKat and what kind of changes it will introduce over its predecessor, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, so it is difficult to imagine what kind of tweaks Sony might add to the Xperia Z1 in turn. Of course, to users things won’t appear to have changed too much on the surface as the new Sony UI is quite an extensive visual overhaul of Google’s platform.

Still, it’s good to see that Sony is on the ball for its latest flagship, it’s jumping straight to 4.4 from the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean which currently comes pre-installed.
