Samsung moves 800,000 Galaxy Gear smartwatches in first two months

Samsung has moved 800,000 Galaxy Gear smartwatches in the first two months of release, according to the hardware maker. Sales are said to be better than Samsung expected for the device, however it’s unclear whether the figure represents sales to consumers or shipments to retail outlets. Nevertheless, it’s doing well this far and is on its way to establishing a name for itself.

The South Korean firm said Gear sales have been better than its own expectations and it would expand sales promotions for the wearable device for the crucial year-end holiday sales.

Initially launched as an accessory for a select few smartphones, recent software updates have expanded support to additional Samsung devices. With the holiday shopping season set to get underway soon we might look for some Galaxy Gear promotions or discounts, particularly when paired together with a smartphone.
