Sony has unwrapped four new trailers showing off the PS4's features ahead of its November 15 launch

Sony has released four video trailers to kick off the launch of its latest gaming console, the PS4.

Following Sony’s announcement of the PS4, where it revealed little detail compared to Microsoft’s contemporary and somewhat underwhelming Xbox One launch, there has been much talk of the latest Sony console breaking technological boundaries. But what kind of breakthroughs? That’s been an overarching question since the initial teasing emerged.

We’ve already seen some of Sony’s advertising material for the PS4 ahead of its launch on November 15, but this latest quartet of trailers is intended to enlighten us somewhat as to what those revolutionary capabilities might be.

We’re treated to a bit of a showcase for the PS4’s new DualShock 4 controller and its many features, including “precision tracking” analogue sticks, a new ergonomic design with “natural triggers” , a touchpad, a built-in speaker, motion control sensors and a dedicate sharing button for creating videos of your play session or live broadcasting.

Another trailer highlights particular flagship titles, including Elder Scrolls Online, Watchdogs, Killzone Shadow Fall, Battlefield 4, Destiny, Assasin’s Creed IV Black Flag and Infamous: Second Son.

In the third trailer we’re promised a “new age” of gaming with further highlights including Madden NFL 25, Fifa 14, NBA 2K14, Warframe, Super Motherload, War Thunder, DC Universe Online, Blacklight Retribution, Knack, DriveClub, The Order 1886, Resogun and Planetside 2, as well as additional footage of the aforementioned titles.

The final trailer looks at how the PS4 console overlaps with Sony’s mobile gaming portable, the PS Vita, which allows you to pick up your gaming sessions where you left off on the main machine. While no explicit mention is made of how this might correlate with Sony’s Xperia mobile devices it’s a tantalizing glimpse that we may see similar features in the future.
