Vibration mode has been a staple on mobile phones for over a decade now. It’s useful when you have your phone in your pocket and on silent—when you’re in a meeting, for example—but want to be notified of a call. However, most phones only have one standard type of vibration for every call. Not so on the iPhone. In iOS 7 you can actually give each caller their own unique vibration so you know who is calling you without even looking at your phone.
1. Tap the Contacts app and find the contact you want to create a custom vibration for. Tap the Edit button at the top of that contact’s screen, then tap the Vibration button.
2. On the next screen tap Create New Vibration.
3. On the grey palette, tap and drag your finger around to create a custom vibration. As you do so, the Play bar at the bottom of the screen will fill up. When you are done, tap the Stop button.
4. If you are happy with your vibration, tap the Save button and enter a name for the vibration, then tap Save. The custom vibration for that contact will now be used when they call.
