Following a leak of a gold-coloured LG G2, the company has officially taken the wraps off the blingtastic colour variant, but in a pleasant twist there’s actually a second new hue which the company announced at the same time – a red one.
As well as offering two new colour choices, the new variants have textured back panels rather than the smooth finish found on the original black and white models. So far, LG has only revealed availability in its native Korea and we have no word on a possible international rollout, but the good news is the pricing point appears to be the same as the existing versions. The phones will be on sale in Singapore from January 18.
Apart from the colour and finish nothing else has changed on the LG G2’s new variants, so you get the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor at 2.26GHz, a 5.2-inch “True HD” 1080p IPS LCD display, 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel optical stabilisation equipped camera, 16GB or 32GB of onboard storage and a 3,000mAh non-removable battery pack.
Hopefully we’ll be hearing more about these colour options soon if they are going to make their way to the global market. A good indicator will be whether or not they make an appearance at MWC 2014 in late February, so we’ll be sure to keep an eye out and let you know if we see anything.
The LG G2 was one of the most impressive Android smartphones of 2013 and still sits at the top of most benchmark tables with its powerful processor. LG really stepped up its game on design, finish and build quality this time round. To get a full idea of the handset check out our full review in the link below.
