LG is reportedly fitting its next flagship smartphone with fingerprint sensors

We are soon going to be hearing more details on the LG G3 and the G Pro 2 with launches rumoured for the first half of 2014. One new report out of Korea is claiming LG’s flagship smartphone range will feature fingerprint scanners.

That report is coming from ETNews which cites a source claiming the LG G3 and LG G Pro 2 will both feature a fingerprint scanner. It still isn’t known how the scanners will be implemented, we don't know what functionality they will work with, or if they will feature on the front or back of the handsets, for example.

The LG G3 is linked with a May 17release date and will sport a 5.5-inch QHD display with a 1440x2560 pixel resolution. There will be a 16MP camera onboard, it’ll run on Android KitKat and will feature LG’s own Odin processor rather than a now common Qualcomm Snapdragon.

Details on the LG G Pro 2 are few and far between.

Most fingerprint scanners we’ve been playing around with over the past few years have been naff to say the least. If LG is planning to make these features integral to the handsets it will take some serious showing off. Hopefully LG has done its research and knows what it wants to achieve and how to do it.
