Rumours for the successor to the HTC One are piling in by the day and for a full run-down of everything we know so far you should read this piece. Even though rumours are still going and we don’t have any official word from HTC on the flagship device, specs have now leaked regarding a mini model -the HTC One 2 Mini.
Phone leaker @evleaks, a reliable source, posted some specifications on Twitter for the smaller device.
HTC M8 mini (mem_ul): SD400 (1.4GHz x4), 4.5", 720p, 1GB/16GB (+microSD), 13MP/5MP, a/b/g/n/ac, BT4.0, KK4.4.2, Sense6.0, buttons on screen.

If the leak is correct the HTC One 2 Mini will have a 4.5-inch, 720p display which is an increase from the 4.3-inch display on the One Mini. The device will also have a Snapdragon 400 chipset which is quite a surprise considering the current HTC One Mini has the exact same chip. It will be slightly different though as the two Krait cores will be replaced with a quad-core Cortex-A7 CPU.
RAM will be 1GB, internal storage will come in at 16GB and there will finally be microSD card support. The device will run on Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Sense 6.0 piled in for good measure.
Snapper wise there’s a 13MP rear facing camera and a 5MP front facing camera. Connectivity will feature Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac alongside Bluetooth 4.0 and it will also mirror the HTC M8 by offering virtual buttons for the first time.
The leaked specifications leave something to be desired in terms of the chipset and 1GB of RAM - clearly HTC has elected not to follow Sony in making a Mini device that shares the high-grade specs of its flagship counterpart. Shame.
HTC hasn’t even made the HTC One 2 official yet so don’t expect an announcement for this handset just yet.
The HTC One was announced in February 2013 and the announcement of a miniature handset followed in July 2013. We are expecting to hear details of this year’s flagship at some point during February or possibly early March so it’s possible we’ll hear more details on the miniature version around the same time.
