PS4 Receives Price Cut In UK

It’s not much, but it’s the start of next generation console prices dropping

Wanted to get your hands on a PlayStation 4 but couldn’t afford it at launch? Only four months after launch, Sony’s next generation console has received its first price reduction in the UK.

It’s not a mammoth drop in price, but if you wanted to get a PlayStation 4 it will now cost you £330, a £20 price reduction. What the price drop does do though, is make it undercut Microsoft’s Xbox One even further, which still costs around £450 at most retailers.

GameStop is currently selling the system in the UK which includes a console and one controller for £329.97. PlayStation 4 has sold exceptionally well in the UK which is likely to be the reason for the price drop.

Although most retailers are still charging £450 for the Xbox One, Zavvi has priced dropped the console to £410 which is available here.

Sony announced a music streaming update for the PlayStation 4 today. Sony is looking to add access to the Sony Music Unlimited streaming service into games soon.

Pocket-lint revealed the news when speaking to Anu Kirk, director of music service at Sony Network Entertainment.

He didn’t reveal any specific details but he said the company is considering allowing a feature where gamers can use the service whilst in gameplay.

"We're looking at ways to add more integration for gamers on that platform in the near future,” said Kirk. “It would be silly for us not to look at more close integration of gaming and the Sony Music Unlimited service."

The launch of the PS4 has seen a big spike in users of the music streaming service and with the launch of the PS4 in Japan and a number of other markets coming soon it’s likely to jump even further.
