New Nokia Lumia “Martini” On The Way

News James Peckham 12:20, 3 Mar 2014

Nokia is working on a new Windows Phone handset and the details are already beginning to seep through

Nokia’s Mobile World Congress revolved mostly around the new Nokia X family of Android devices, but the company has made it clear it will continue its established Nokia Asha and Nokia Lumia Windows Phone brands too.

Today we have heard the latest news on the next Nokia Lumia handset which will join the line-up. All we know so far is the codename is “Martini”. No other details have been unveiled yet but the codename comes courtesy of Twitter leaker @evleaks which has a fantastic record of getting these things right.

It’s not clear whether the handset will be coming sooner or later, Nokia had a big blow-out at MWC 2014 but didn't reveal the expected Lumia 930, a rumoured handset thought to be an international version of the Nokia Icon, a US exclusive which has received rave reviews.

Microsoft’s Build Developer Conference is only around the corner though so could we hear some details come out then? If so that takes place from April 2 to April 4.

We are expecting the reveal of Windows Phone 8.1 at the event so it could be surrounded with a number of handset announcements as well.

So what could the Martini be like? So far we have no word on the specifications but with the direction Windows Phone has been heading in some kind of quad-core device seems likely. Being Nokia as well we are could see a kickass camera on the handset to.

It will run Windows Phone Blue, however, according to the Twitter leaker.

We will keep you posted with all the latest dfetails on the Nokia Lumia Martini handset when we hear more. Until then why not check out our coverage of the Nokia X range of devices including this hands-on video.
