Your iPhone will soon be able to control your smart phone, expect an announcement very soon

Smart homes are the future, being able to control your heating, lighting and a variety of other features whilst you’re out and about can be incredibly handy. Practically everyone has a smartphone sat in their pocket so it makes sense to start using them to be able to control your new futuristic home.

Apple is rumoured to be announcing new features for its iOS software which will allow you to control your smartphone from the handset. It’s likely those details will be announced next week at it’s Worldwide Developer Conference on June 2.

The Financial Times broke the story which says Apple will allow a variety of other companies to make products specifically design to work with the smart home features on the iPhone. There will be a load of privacy limitations and quality checks before the company is allowed access to your home though.

These features allow a variety of different scenarios including the ability to turn on your lights as soon as you walk through the door or even control your front door lock without a key.

To learn how exactly all these new smart home features will be enabled we will have to wait until next week. We’ve heard rumours of NFC technology being included on the iPhone 6 so that could play a part in it.

At the moment the smart home market is a little messy without a fully functioning way to control it through one device. Putting the features inside one of the biggest selling smartphones in the world will probably do the trick and open up the features to the everyman. But then you have to go out and buy your entire home some new smart features, it’s going to be a hard sell for Apple.
