Sony Xperia Z3 Release Date In August? Metal Frame Leaks

The first leak from the next Sony Xperia flagship handset has appeared and it shows off a metal frame

The Sony Xperia Z2 has only just hit shelves in the UK but we are already hearing about the next flagship handset. It’s all part of Sony’s new approach to release a flagship handset every six months.

Sony does run the risk of not improving the handset enough with successive iterations appearing so quickly, but we shouldn’t judge until we actually see it. So what do we know about the Sony Xperia Z3 so far?

We’ve got some photos for you to enjoy which came via GForGames' sources. It’s the Xperia Z3’s metal frame, according to blog-based leaksters, and it seems it is treated with a special PVD coating which means it is more corrosion resistant.

Apparently it also gives it much better impact resistance and is more resilient to scratches. To top it all off it’s even more environmentally friendly than the currently used alternatives so it’ll help set everyone’s conscience at rest.

That same source also gave us a little hint at what is under the hood, which is a bit of an upgrade over the current Z2 specs.

There will be a 1080p display as well as a powerful Snapdragon 805 CPU, which has been clocked at 2.7GHz. On top of that there's 3GB of RAM and the return of that 20.7MP main camera.

Once we know more about the handset we will be sure to keep you posted here. It’s a long way off with most rumours pointing toward an August announcement. It would make sense as Sony has admitted it wants to release a new flagship handset every six months and we heard about the Z2 at MWC in February.
