The month of June marked LGBTQ Pride Month in many cities, and people around the world gathered together with rainbow flags, parades (and plenty of glitter) to celebrate who they are and who they love.

Although some celebrations began in late May and many more continue throughout July and August, June stands as Pride Month to honor the Stonewall riots of 1969. The riots, a series of demonstrations in New York City against anti-gay violence, mark what many consider to be the beginning of the modern gay rights movement in the United States.
