We’ve had the Lumia 930 and Lumia 530, so following on with this new line of succession it’s not exactly surprising to learn that a Nokia Lumia 730 is also on the way as a revamp of the mid-range Lumia 720.
The word comes via NokiaPowerUser, which has heard from its sources that two variants of the Lumia 730 will arrive in August. Each will have a 720p display, but one model will use a 4.7in panel while the other is a full 5in. Both variants will use a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with an Adreno 305 GPU.
Allegedly, the smaller model is the rumoured “Selfie” phone previously rumoured as the “Superman” and will use a 5MP front facing camera and possibly an 8MP sensor on the back. While August has been suggested for the launch, this is expected to be a carrier exclusive for US network Verizon at first, with the phone hitting other markets later.
The 5in model is being pegged as a possible “Mini 930” as much as a 730 successor (although we think that’s kinda unlikely). This one will feature a 13MP “advanced rear camera module” and there appear to be multiple variants (likely for different regions/carriers) designated RM-983, RM-984, and RM-985.
With these handsets the release date is a little more specific as the source is saying the end of August in the third or fourth week of the month. However, once again this will land as a US exclusive first tied to AT&T but it’s implied it will definitely get a global rollout thereafter.
The handsets will also run Windows Phone 8.1 GDR1 from the get-go, meaning Cortana, Folders and a bunch of other new features will be included.
